Deutsche Grammophon has extended its exclusive recording relationship with the Russian soprano Anna Netrebko.
Through the deal, unveiled today (Feb. 13), Netrebko is expected to undertake solo projects as well as record complete operas on CD, DVD and for downloading.
Her first release under this new contract will be her opera album “Duets,” due out in March 2007. The album features compositions by Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, Gounod, Bizet, Massenet, and Tchaikovsky, and a performance by the Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón.
“From my first encounter with Anna Netrebko, I was captivated by her stunning, unique voice – and her vibrant personality,” comments Christopher Roberts, president of Universal Music Group International, Classics and Jazz, in a statement. “It was immediately clear that she was destined for stardom. We now look forward to many more years of our enjoyable and rewarding collaboration.”
A recording of a Salzburg Festival 2006 performance of “Le Nozze Di Figaro,” will be released on CD — both as a complete recording and a highlights album — and on DVD in June 2007.
