Nelly is best known for his fun-filled party rap songs, but the St. Louis rapper is undertaking another business venture these days: fitness.
Nelly recently released his workout DVD titled “Celebrity Sweat,” which features strength training routines from the “Country Grammar” artist and some of his famous friends. Billboard.com’s The Juice recently caught up with Nelly at a Playboy Mansion party in Los Angeles, Calif., to discuss “Sweat” and his latest “Gone” video with longtime collaborator Kelly Rowland, among other hot topics.

“The premise of the video is structured around my every day workouts,” Nelly explains about “Sweat.” “The workouts are pretty much my routine… It’s a real big thing with child obesity which is being overlooked — kids don’t get out and exercise like they used to, and that translates into their adulthoods.”
About the sports players and performers that appear in the DVD with him, Nelly says the vision is the same. “Each artist has the same feeling — it’s about bringing awareness, getting kids out, being more active. We all really do work out and it shows,” he says.
While R&B singer Rowland doesn’t flex her muscles in the clip, she did recently collaborate with Nelly on the song “Gone,” off his latest “5.0” album; the two reunited after their first run on Nelly’s 2002 “Dilemma” single.

“It’s a hot joint,” he says about the song and video. “It’s kind of like us getting a chance to see each other again after so long and reconnecting.”
Although he has tons on his plate, Nelly — who recently teamed up with Ford to custom design a Mustang car — has more up his sleeves. “A St. Lunatics album is coming out soon,” he says, as well as an album by his artist Avery Storm titled “Shotgun Love.”
