When the time comes for Nelly Furtado to hit the road in support of her new album, “The Spirit Indestructible,” head on over to the merch table at one of her concerts and you just may see the singer’s handiwork for sale.
“I love style, I love fashion,” she told Billboard on a break from taping a Walmart Soundcheck performance. “It’s fun even making merchandise for my tour. I do doodle and do drawings and I think for this album I’ll probably launch some merchandise that has some of my drawings on them because I really enjoy art.”
Furtado, born to Portuguese parents and raised on the west coast of Canada, says she’s influenced by bohemian fashion and calls her style a “mix between funky and classic.”
Wearing arm cuffs made by her “Kenyan mama friends,” Furtado performed new songs “Big Hoops” and “Parking Lot” as well as 2006 hit “Maneater” (No. 16 on Hot 100) during her Soundcheck performance.
