UPDATE 5/12: Jimmy Fallon has announced that Young and White’s performance will be recorded and pressed to vinyl live during the show. White has experience in this sort of thing, having set the world record in April by recording and pressing a 7-inch version of new song “Lazaretto” at his Third Man Records studio in Nashville. The entire process took 3 hours, 55 minutes and 21 seconds. More here.
Making history tonight – Neil Young is going to perform and press a vinyl with the help of Jack White live on the show. One take. Fun.

EARLIER 5/9:
Late night television’s most music-friendly host has a couple of rockin’ guests slated for Monday (May 12)’s edition of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Fallon will welcome Neil Young and Jack White onto the show, first for an interview, and with a performance from (at least) Young capping off the night.
This is Young’s first interview segment with Fallon, although the host has already professed his fandom through gems like this:
Earlier this year, Young released a covers album titled “A Letter Home” on White’s Third Man imprint. The ten-song collection features new versions of songs like Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” Bob Dylan’s “Girl From The North Country” and Bruce Springsteen’s “My Hometown.”

White’s own album, a solo effort titled “Lazaretto,” is set to drop June 10 on Third Man/Columbia.
To sweeten the deal, the episode also features Louis C.K. as a guest. It all airs at 11:35 p.m. (ET) on NBC.
