Forget the midweek blues — today (March 23) is National Puppy Day. Sure, it’s another one of those Twitter-friendly holidays you didn’t realize existed until just now, but there’s nothing wrong with this one for two reasons: 1) It’s never a bad time to look at photos of sweet pups, and 2) Any holiday that spurs donations to dogs in need justifies its existence.
So why not do both today? And for a start, here’s recent photos of thrash metal pioneers Slayer posing with dogs from the incredibly named Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, an organization operating out of Redmond, Washington. At the same March 19 photo shoot (h/t MetalInjection), fellow metal outfits Testament, Carcass and Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil also stopped by.
