Natalie Cole, Willie Nelson and Denzel Washington are the first talent on board for the Apollo Theater Foundation’s benefit celebrating the New York theater’s 70th anniversary.
“Apollo at 70: A Hot Night in Harlem” tapes March 28 at the legendary Harlem venue venue and will air as a two-hour NBC special in June.
The special will feature contemporary artists from the realms of music, dance, comedy and acting, complemented by clips from the Apollo archives.
Producing the special in association with the Apollo Theater Foundation are Magna Global Entertainment, Don Mischer and Suzanne de Passe. Quincy Jones serves as consulting producer.
