Natalie Cole will be this year’s ELLA Award honoree at the Society of Singers’ annual ceremony June 1 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Cole joins such previous ELLA Award recipients as namesake Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Celine Dion and Frank Sinatra. The Grammy Award-winning singer is best known for her R&B and pop hits “This Will Be,” “I’ve Got Love on My Mind,” “Miss You Like Crazy” and “Unforgettable,” a duet with her legendary father Nat King Cole.
The 26-year-old Society of Singers is headed by president/CEO and music industry veteran Jerry F. Sharell. Co-founded by philanthropists Ginny (Mrs. Henry) Mancini and Gilda Maiken Anderson, the organization provides emergency financial support for recipients who have worked as singers and also funds scholarships for education in the vocal arts.
