Nardwuar, whose interview style has to be watched to understand, ends them all the same way: “Keep on rockin’ in the free world,” followed by “doot doola doot doo.” The interviewee is expected to respond with “doot doo,” but it doesn’t always work out that way. He also gives gifts to his subjects, including rare pieces of vinyl.
Nardwuar, whose real name is John Ruskin, is also the lead singer and keyboard player for The Evaporators, which formed in 1986.
