Narcís Rebollo has been named managing director of Universal Music Spain, with immediate effect.
The 43-year-old exec was founding partner and VP of independent music company Vale Music which specialized in EDM and in TV formats such as “Operación Triunfo,” the reality show which launched the career of such superstar artists as David Bisbal and David Bustamante. Vale Music was acquired by Universal Music Spain in 2006. He was promoted to director of new business and GTS for the music major in 2010.
In his new role, Rebollo is based in Madrid and reports to Jesús López, acting president of the Iberian Peninsula and chairman & CEO of Universal Music Latin America.
“Narcis has a unique quality in our industry,” notes López. “He combines extensive experience in marketing and new business with expertise in management and booking which positions him within the Spanish market to be a genuine leader in the ongoing evolution of the music business that we are developing. Under his leadership and with the support of the great team of Universal Music Spain I’m convinced we will continue to grow our capacity to develop incredible artists and innovative new business models.”
Rebollo began his career in his native Barcelona at independent music company Divucsa. He later joined BMG where he was tasked with marketing and promotion in the Catalonia region before being appointed managing director of independent electronic music label Max Music in 1995.
The appointment follows the untimely passing of Simone Bosé, president of Universal Music Iberian Peninsula. Bosé died a month ago following complications from pneumonia, at the age of just 51.
