Roxio-owned download service Napster U.K. is ramping up its presence at bricks & mortar retail through a pact with Britain’s Post Office.
On the back of a similar partnership with British electronic goods retailer Dixons Group, the Post Office has agreed to sell pre-paid Napster download vouchers in its 16,000 outlets nationwide.
Available in two versions, the color-coded Post Office vouchers contain a code that can be redeemed on the Napster U.K. Web site.
Green vouchers will enable users access to Napster’s subscription service, allowing them listens to any number of titles from its catalog of approximately one million songs. A two-month subscription is priced at £20 ($36) and a four-month subscription cost £35 ($64); the tracks will time-out when the subscription expires.
Blue vouchers unlock bundles of tracks in denominations of 10, 22 and 33 and are priced at £10 ($18), £20 ($36) or £30 ($55), respectively. These downloads can be burned to CD or transferred to a portable player.
Napster hopes the initiative will attract Christmas gift-buyers and customers who do not own credit cards.
