MySpace Music president Courtney Holt will keynote the revived New Music Seminar, to be held July 21 at the New York University Steinhardt’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
The New Music Seminar, which flourished in the 1980’s through the mid-1990’s, will be presented in association with the music business program at New York University Steinhardt.
Holt said in a statement that he is honored to be the inaugural keynote for the revived seminar because, “this conference has had such a profound influence on my and my career over the years.”
Prior to joining MySpace Music, Holt served as executive VP of digital music for the MTV Networks Music and Logo Group.
“Courtney Holt has taken the helm of the ship that started the music social networking phenomenon and with his out-of-the-box outlook, this visionary is sure to give us a view of the world we have never seen before,” says Tommy Boy Music CEO Tom Silverman, a co-founder of the New Music Seminar who helped revive the event.
