Social networking site MySpace, a unit of Fox Interactive Media Inc., has launched MySpace Canada, available in both French and English languages.
Jane Tattersall, the company’s first Canadian hire, has been appointed director of marketing and will oversee MySpace Canada’s marketing and content. Tattersall comes to MySpace Canada after serving as marketing manager at EMI Music Canada.
MySpace will commemorate the launch of the Canadian site by hosting a concert in Toronto May 14 featuring Warner Music Canada rock band Billy Talent.
“Our goal with the launch of MySpace Canada is to make the site even more relevant to the Canadian community,” says MySpace senior VP and GM for International, Travis Katz. “There is an incredible creative community in Canada, and with this launch we will be better able to showcase the artists, comedians, and video content that our users are most passionate about, while creating a truly Canadian home for our users online.”
MySpace Canada is part of MySpace’s existing global network with localized sites in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Latin America.
