Circuit City’s MusicNow subsidiary has launched an online music subscription service to complement its à la carte download stores.
For $9.95 per month, members can access up to 1 million tracks of music licensed for all four major labels and various independents. Pay-per-download costs remain 99 cents per track.
Additional functionality for the subscription service includes member-to-member music recommendation and sharing, playlist publication and delivery and personalized homepage creation.
The MusicNow subscription service is completely Web-based and does not require any software downloading or special applications. Members may access their subscription via any Internet-connected computer. No word yet on support for portable devices.
