A Nashville executive who helped start SunTrust Bank’s music industry division has died in a boating accident, authorities say.
Brian Williams was out on Center Hill Lake in Smithville swimming with friends and family Saturday (July 8) when he went under, according to DeKalb County sheriff’s officials.
Investigators are performing an autopsy to determine if Williams died from drowning or if he had a medical problem that caused his death, WTVF-TV in Nashville reports.
Williams started the bank’s music industry division in Nashville in the late 1980s and later moved its offices to Music Row, where there are gold and platinum records presented to the bank and Williams by clients that include artists such as Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Faith Hill and Martina McBride.
