Rock band Muse and R&B singer Miguel are aiming for the top five on next week Billboard 200 albums chart, while reigning kings Mumford & Sons should hold the top slot for a second week.
Mumford & Sons’ ‘Babel’ Scores Biggest Debut of 2012, Tops Billboard 200 Chart
Mumford & Sons’ second album, “Babel,” will seemingly fend off any competition for the No. 1 position after its whopping 600,000 start this past week (according to Nielsen SoundScan). While we don’t have a prediction for what “Babel” will shift in its sophomore frame, it’s highly unlikely any of this week’s new releases will bump the set out of the penthouse.
The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Oct. 10.
Muse’s “The 2nd Law” seems primed for a start in the No. 2 slot, with perhaps 110,000 sold, according to industry forecasters. It may mark the highest rank for the band on the tally, but not its best sales week. So far, Muse’s highest sales frame came when its last studio release, “The Resistance” (2009), entered at a career-high No. 3 with 128,000.
Miguel is looking to debut in the No. 3 position with his sophomore set, “Kaleidoscope Dream.” The album could sell around 50,000 by the end of the tracking week on Oct. 7. The singer’s debut, “All I Want Is You” (2010), racked 45 weeks on the chart, rising to a peak of No. 37 on the May 24, 2011 chart.
Other albums primed for a high entry next week include Diana Krall’s “Glad Rag Doll,” Three Days Grace’s “Lost In You” and Jackie Evancho’s “Songs From the Silver Screen.”
