It’s only been a couple of weeks since Mura Masa dropped his self-titled album, a.k.a. your new favorite LP of the summer, but he actually finished working on that project in March, and you know a musical mind like Masa’s doesn’t sit idle.
He’s released a new, experimental sound called “Untitled,” featuring jazz musician Moses Boyd. It’s a six-minute adventure that starts with languid bell synth melodies and moody atmospherics. Halfway through, it’s more techy noise than sweet melodies. “Untitled” becomes a cool, tribal techno tune, and then the song comes full circle, ending where it began.
It’s pretty funky, definitely different from the tropical party on Mura Masa, lest anyone try to put the young man in a box. Boyd is dastardly on the jazz drums. Give “Untitled” your undivided attention below.
