With five nominations each, Warner Music band Billy Talent and Roadrunner’s Nickelback lead the pack of Canadian nominees at the 18th Annual MuchMusic Video Awards.
The event, to be held June 17 at MuchMusic’s landmark headquarters in downtown Toronto, airs live in Canada on MuchMusic and on broadband at MuchAXS.
Billy Talent are nominated for: Best Video (“Fallen Leaves”), Best Director (Dean Karr & Ian D’sa for “Red Flag”); Best Cinematography (Claudio Miranda for “Red Flag”); Best Rock Video (“Fallen Leaves”), and top group.
Nickelback is nominated for: Best Video (“If Everyone Cared”), “Best Rock Video (“If Everyone Cared”), MuchMoreMusic Award (“Far Away”); Best International Video By A Canadian (“Far Away”); and top group.
Following up with four nominations each are Canadian rappers Belly (CP Records) and K-Os (EMI).
Belly got nods for: Best Video (“Pressure”): Best Director (RT for “Pressure”); Best Cinematography (RT for “Pressure”); and Best Rap Video (“Pressure”). K-Os is nominated for: Best Director (K-Os, Micah Meisner, “Electrik Heat-The Seekwill”); Best Pop Video (“Sunday Morning”); Best Rap Video (“Electrik Heat-The Seekwill”); and top artist.
Among the acts nominated for best international video are AFI (“Miss Murder,” Geffen), Blue October (“Hate Me,” Universal Music), Evanescence (“Call Me When You’re Sober,” Wind-Up), Fall Out Boy (“This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race,” Island), My Chemical Romance (“Welcome To The Black Parade,” Reprise), Pussycat Dolls (“Wait A Minute,” A&M), Red Hot Chili Peppers (“Dani California,” Warner Music), the Fray (“How To Save A Life,” Epic/Sony), The Killers (“When We Were Young,” Island), and the Used (“The Bird & The Worm,” Warner).
