MTV is expanding its Music Meter artist discovery service to Internet-connected TVs manufactured by Samsung.
Under the deal, Samsung will include the Music Meter on select HDTVs, as well as Blu-ray players and home thearter systems through its Samsung Apps app store. Samsung Apps is basically the same as the Apple App Store, but obviously designed for Samsung devices.
This marks an expansion of the relationship between Samsung and MTV. MTV previously made the Music Meter available for the Samsung Galaxy tablet and Android-based smartphones. The Music Meter is a chart of sorts that ranks which artists are seeing the largest increase in online buzz using technology provided by the Echo Nest.
