MTV Networks U.K. has struck a long-term deal with the Official U.K. Charts Company which will enable the music TV broadcaster to reveal the U.K. sales charts across a range of platforms.
The agreement, effective from today, will see MTV stream and publish the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart, Download Singles, Album and R&B Singles Chart for TV, online and mobile audiences.
“We have been working with MTV for several years, but this deal takes that relationship to the next level and will deliver high profile television exposure for the U.K.’s official music charts,” comments Martin Talbot, managing director of the OCC, in a joint statement issued today.
Virginia Monaghan, director of Music Channels, adds, “It’s great to be able to provide our audience with the latest news wherever they want it on who’s reached the Number One spot across the various genres of the weekly charts.”
The new agreement launches today with the premiere of the Official UK Top 40 on VH1.
