As New York-based MSG Entertainment continues to grow its brand beyond the New York metro area, the live entertainment company has reorganized its operations with a newly expanded executive team of music industry veterans.
– Melissa Ormond has been promoted to COO. In her new role, Ormond will manage all areas of business under the MSG Entertainment division, which include booking and production. Additionally, she will work with MSG Entertainment president Jay Marciano to maximize revenues and develop sales, marketing and new promotional platforms. Ormond reports directly to Marciano. She previously served as executive VP of bookings.
– Andrea Greenberg has been named executive VP. A 25-year veteran of MSG Entertainment parent company Cablevision, Greenberg will be responsible for new business development activities at MSG Entertainment. She will also play an important role in formulating the company’s strategic plan, which includes creating new business alliances, partnerships and capital investments. Greenberg reports directly to Marciano. She most recently served as president of Rainbow Media Ventures.
– Don Simpson has been appointed to senior VP of business development. Simpson will oversee evaluation, planning and the development of new venue acquisitions and off-site, stand-alone events. He recently told Billboard.biz that the company has made moves to purchase 910 acres in rural Springfield, N.Y., with plans to spend $15 million launching a three-day, multi-genre music festival in 2010. Simpson will also oversee and manage the business plans and marketing launches for new venues. He reports directly to Greenberg. Prior to his new role, Simpson was president of House of Blues Concerts Canada.
– Bob Shea has been tapped as senior VP of regional bookings and special projects. Shea will be responsible for bookings and operations of all concerts, family attractions, touring theatricals and specials events outside of New York. He will also work to create non-touring musical content unique to MSG Entertainment venues. Shea reports directly to Ormond. He was most recently senior VP of booking at Live Nation’s office in Southern California.
– Lee Weinberg has been named senior VP of business and strategic planning. Weinberg will play a key role in analyzing the strategic development, operations and financial plans for all new divisional initiatives, as well as existing businesses. He will work closely with all areas of the company to measure strategic results against key financial metrics and identify new opportunities for growth. Weinberg reports directly to Greenberg. Previously, he served as VP of strategy and operation for advertising sales
at The Wall Street Journal.
MSG Entertainment recently added the Beacon Theatre and the Chicago Theatre to its list of premiere venues, which includes Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden. The company also manages live entertainment properties including the Radio City Rockettes, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, MSG Media and music television network Fuse.
