Japan’s Mrs. GREEN APPLE released their new fully animated music video accompanying “lovin’,” a track off the band’s upcoming new studio album and theme of Fuji TV’s Saturday morning show Mezamashi Doyobi.
The sweet video was created by Nana Hikokubo, an illustrator the same age as frontman Motoki Omori and guitarist Hiroto Wakai, who both turn 23 later this year.
Omori, also the primary songwriter of the five-member pop-rock band, requested that the visuals be “heartwarming and reminiscent of animated works from overseas,” and came upon Hikokubo’s works while searching for the ideal artist to create the video.
The simply illustrated, cheery animation features a young man just out of college, who encounters a dog that eventually leads him to the love of his life.
As the seasons turn and the characters grow old together, Omori sings, “At all times ‘lovin’ you’/ It goes without saying ‘I need you’/ In these dizzying times, I’m growing flowers/ Hoping they won’t wilt/ I’ll keep pouring all my love/ I’ll give you all of me” in the final chorus.
“lovin'” will be included in Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s fourth studio album, Attitude, due Oct. 2. The pop rockers also recently announced two shows in Taipei, set for Nov. 9 and 10.
