(The Hollywood Reporter) — Concerned parents have a new way of checking whether their children are illegally downloading movies.
The Motion Picture Assn. of America is offering free software as a new tool in its ongoing fight against piracy.
Parent File Scan can be downloaded via a link provided on www.respectcopyrights.org. It will scan any computer using Microsoft’s Windows and detail all movies, music and peer-to-peer software that it identifies.
“We know that parents want to make the right choices with respect to their children’s online behavior, and we hope that Parent File Scan will help them do that,” MPAA president/CEO Dan Glickman said.
