Motorola today (March 8) debuted three mobile handsets and wireless content created by MTV International. The announcement came during the inaugural M3 Summit, which runs through Wednesday (10) in Miami.
The three handsets each offer entertainment enthusiasts special features: The E398 has 3D stereo surround sound, the E680 is equipped with RealPlayer software and MPEG4 video capture and playback, and the C650 camera phone features MotoMixer remixing and MP3 ring tones.
Each will deliver exclusive wireless content created by MTV International, including interactive games, wallpaper, screen savers and ringtones.
The E398 is scheduled to hit retailers by mid-year, while the E680 and C650 are due in the second half of 2004.
In other news, Technics introduced its 1200 series digital turntable to the many club DJs in attendance at the conference. The new model, SL-DZ1200, is based on Technics’ SL-1200 turntable series. It is a direct-drive digital turntable that plays CDs as well as MP3 and AAC files. A special feature on the unit is the SD Memory Card, which allows sampled material to be stored on a removable and reusable postage stamp-sized card.
For DJs, the turntable’s attractions are high-speed data access, large storage capacity (each card holds about 250 tracks) and portability. The unit will be in stores at the end of April. A companion piece of equipment scheduled to arrive in June is the Technics SH-MZ1200 DJ mixer.
