But their riveting Instagram Live sessions, hair dye experiments and board game extravaganzas gave fans unexpected sources of entertainment aside from any new music they’ve released.
Billboard compiled a list of the most surprising things artists accomplished while in quarantine, from Tory Lanez hosting twerking competitions on his Quarantine Radio show to Dua Lipa‘s fruit-colored hairstyles.

When coronavirus called for healthcare heroes to suit up with personal protective equipment (PPE) and combat it on the frontlines, Gal Gadot aka Wonder Woman also responded to the call. On the movie star’s sixth day of self-quarantine, Gadot shared how moved she felt by an Italian man playing John Lennon‘s 1971 No. 3 hit “Imagine” on his trumpet from his balcony. So she decided to rally the troops (including Sia, Will Ferrell, Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Mark Ruffalo and Natalie Portman, and the original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter) to sing their own at-home version.

As the “hey, ho” call-and-response from Naughty by Nature‘s 1993 smash “Hip Hop Hooray” came on, Wilson launched right into the nostalgic lyrics for an epic Instagram clip. A month later, Wilson teamed up with the hip-hop trio for an official remix inspired by her IGTV stunt. The single’s net profits benefit MusiCares Foundation Inc. COVID-19 Relief Fund to help those in the music community impacted by the coronavirus.

Lanez became a quarantined household name not just for his rapping, but for his radio hosting skills after launching Quarantine Radio at the end of March. The daily Instagram Live series brought out girls from around the world showing off their best moves to the likes of his fellow Canadian superstars Drake and Justin Bieber as well as Young Thug, Megan Thee Stallion, and more for quick segments. His 5-minute interview with Drake set a record on IG Live for most viewers with 315,000 fans following along the two rappers toasting shots.
Dua Lipa dyed her with hair pink, then transformed into “orangina quarantina” and later switched to a red strawberry swirly ‘do.
Lipa witched up her half-blonde, half-black signature style by dying the top half hot pink in April with the help of her boyfriend Anwar Hadid before transforming into “orangina quarantina” with bright orange bangs by the end of the month. But the pop star won’t be stopping now as her red strawberry streaks came out to play in May.

Bad Bunny dropped not only one, but two albums around quarantine, with YHLQMDLG arriving at the end of February and Las Que No Iban a Salir dropping out of the blue in early May. The Puerto Rican artist hopped on IG Live one weekend for a YHLQMDLG listening party that lasted more than three hours. “I will be thanking you personally before the world ends and listening to the album [YHLQMDLG] really drunk with you,” he announced before 250,000 fans tuned into the whole event. At one point in the night, Bad Bunny beat out Lanez and Drake’s previous Live record by clocking in at 320,000 viewers.
