Morrissey has really been on a roll lately. Even when he isn’t breaking up with his label or canceling a slew of tour dates, his ramblings on the site True to You are turning heads, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
A few days after Henry Rollins offered his wrongheaded opinion on the death of Robin Williams, Morrissey has chimed in with a similarly offensive assessment of the situation.

Morrissey opens by saying he felt the recent deaths of screen stars Richard Attenborough, Lauren Bacall and Dora Bryan were underrepresented in the press, a perfectly reasonable opinion. But then Morrissey starts sounding very, very… Morrissey. He wrote:
“So sad that (Bacall’s) death was overshadowed by that of Robin Williams. It was Lauren, not Robin, who changed motion picture history. Yet modern media has an odd way of forgetting the more senior servers of the arts.”
After failing to acknoweldge the tragedy of Williams’ suicide and reducing the loss to a line of criticism, he spends most of the rest of the post humble-bragging about how he had met Attenborough and Bryan when they were alive.
And for the kicker, he throws some shade at The X Factor and Big Brother.
“However, in our X-factory society, it seems that anyone who has NOT appeared on Big Brother just isn’t worth remembering by the British media … alas.”
