Moon Boots delivers a laid-back groove with his latest release, “Keep The Faith,” enlisting the alluring vocals of Nic Hanson. The Brooklyn-born, Chicago-based producer considers it the “smoothest and most psychedelic track I’ve made so far.”
“Keep The Faith” will be one of 10 tracks off his debut album, First Landing, which encompasses house, funk, soul and more. “This album has been a labor of love for much of the past 2 years, and I’m really excited for it to see the light of day,” says Peter Dougherty (a.k.a. Moon Boots). “I feel like I’ve grown as an artist, songwriter, and producer, and that process is just getting started. I hope to eventually do 6 albums for the 6 times we’ve landed on the Moon.”
With respect to the creative process behind “Keep The Faith,” he explains, “I had an idea of voicing chords in harmony stacks reminiscent of Michael Jackson and Nic [Hanson] did it effortlessly. He even did the same parts in a doo-wop style as a nod to his Philly roots; it was fabulous. We hit the ground running and wrote all of the lyrics on the spot and did the backing vocals in two sessions.”
