On her third album, Mya offers a mixed bag encompassing her various musical moods: R&B, hip-hop, techno, pop and reggae. But like a mood ring, the album only intermittently glows hot. Things get off to a steamy, sexy start with the Missy Elliott-produced single “My Love Is Like . . . Wo.” And the humorous techno cut “Whatever Bitch” is the perfect female and club anthem. It’s a pleasingly looser Mya on the bonus track (and Coca-Cola campaign theme) “Real Compared to What” featuring rapper Common. However, with no less than 10 producers on the project (including the artist herself, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Rockwilder), Mya the singer becomes lost among some of the more slickly produced, paint-by-numbers cuts.—GM
