Parties and politics have always gone hand in hand for Moby. His seminal album Play featured five essays of a philosophical nature, ranging in topics from our treatment of prisoners to conservation to veganism, Christianity’s use of violence (Moby is a devout Christian) and more.
The artist has championed animal rights since his career started. He released an album titled Animal Rights in 1996, and after this recent Thanksgiving, when some honor the holiday’s spirit of thankfulness with charity on “Giving Tuesday,” he donated $250,000 to animal rights organizations.
“I’m proud to announce that this year @littlepinerestaurant and I will be donating $250,000 to a wide range of #animalrights organizations,” he posted on Instagram. “As you know, 100% of little pine’s profits go to animal rights groups. Including @mercyforanimals @humanesociety @thehumaneleague @physicianscommittee @peta @animalequality and others.”
Little Pine is the 100 percent vegan bistro Moby owns and operates in his adopted home of the Los Angeles neighborhood ot Silver Lake. It’s been open since 2015 and serves daily dinners and weekend brunches with an extensive wine and beer list. Check it out next time you’re in Southern California, and peep his public declaration of love for animals in the Instagram post below.
