Electronica veteran Moby will release his fifth studio album, “Hotel,” on March 14 internationally via Mute and March 22 in North America via V2. The 14-track set will be preceded by an as-yet-untitled single at the end of February. Moby played all the instruments on “Hotel” except the drums, and is joined on vocals by Lucy Dawn.
Two cuts are duets with unnamed collaborators, while two others are instrumentals. Moby is expected to tour in support of “Hotel” but no details have yet been unveiled.
The album is the follow-up to 2002’s “18,” which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart and No. 4 on The Billboard 200. Last fall, Moby issued the CD/DVD “18: B-Sides + DVD,” collecting odds-and-ends from the “18” sessions, plus videos and four new songs.
The artist’s most recent release was a self-titled album in January under the moniker Baby Monkey, which had not been active since 1996. This summer, he teamed with Public Enemy for the track “MKLFKWR,” which appeared on the official Athens 2004 Olympics pop music compilation, “Unity.”
