The 12th edition of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards will take place at London’s O2 Arena on Sept. 19.
The MOBOs will be the first industry awards ceremony to take place at new Greenwich venue, which opened for business on July 7.
Owned and operated by the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), the O2 arena was until recently the much-maligned Millennium Dome.
For the previous three years, the MOBOs have been held at the 126-year-old Royal Albert Hall in London.
Contenders for the 2007 ceremony, arranged by the MOBO Organization, will be unveiled on Aug. 22.
The MOBO Organization is also launching the MOBO Foundation, which intends to address the problems that people from ethnic-minority communities face when seeking employment or setting up business in the British music industry.
In a statement, the MOBO Organization declared: “This year, MOBO is determined to make a difference after Sept. 19 by helping Britain’s next generation to fulfil their amazing potential.”
Future plans also include setting up a MOBO Trade Association.
