Few events command greater FOMO than Burning Man. There’s not much worse than being stuck in the default world while your friends are gallivanting around the playa expanding their minds through art, music and unfettered human interaction.
If you’re in that boat, fear not — Billboard Dance feels your pain. To cope, we’ve compiled a week’s worth of Burning Man mixes ranging from epic Robot Heart outings to laid back desert lullabies. Close your eyes and listen to this special edition of Mix Mondays — you might just convince yourself you’re home.
Monday: Bob Moses – Live at Robot Heart, Burning Man 2013
Two years ago, the Brooklyn-based duo treated attendees to a truly sublime hour-long live set on the revered Robot Heart bus — and it’s well worth reliving. Give their recent Billboard interview a read too.
Tuesday: DJ Kramer – DISTRIKT Music Ep. 65 (Burning Man 2013)
Distrikt is more than just a can’t-miss sound camp — it’s a non profit electronic music and art collective that hails from San Francisco and maintains its community presence with events throughout the year. Listen to founding artist DJ Kramer close out last year’s Burn Night with a special 3.5 hour odyssey.
Wednesday: Above & Beyond – Robot Heart Yoga 2014
Last year, the English trance trio provided a mesmerizing and melodic soundtrack to an hour-long sunset yoga session Wednesday night on the Robot Heart bus. Only at Burning Man.
Thursday: Tycho – Black Sunrise DJ Set at Disco Space Shuttle, Burning Man 2014
One of last year’s most impressive art installations was “Embrace” — a 72 foot wooden sculpture of two lovers locked in each other’s arms. When it burned early Friday morning, SF producer Tycho provided its fiery tribute to impermanence with a perfect soundtrack.
Friday: Lee Burridge – Live at Robot Heart, Burning Man 2013
No one ushers playa nights into daylight like Lee Burridge. It’s a time-tested tradition to watch undisputed king of sunrise work his magic on Saturday morning before the Man burns.
