Singer-songwriter Mitski sat down with Billboard to play “First, Best, Last, Worst,” discussing her best fan encounter to date, the time she was most starstruck and more.
Asked about the best fan experience she has ever had, the “Your Best American Girl” singer reveals that every fan she has met has been nice to her, but that she still owns a Princess Mononoke blanket that someone once gifted her with.
Mitski also tells Billboard that while she doesn’t usually get starstruck, she did take special notice when Benedict Cumberbatch walked in front of her near Union Square once. “I didn’t realize, first, how tall he was and also how great his posture is,” she says. “So, when he walked by, I was like, ‘Oh wow, a star!’ It’s all about posture.”
In the video, which you can watch in full above, you can also hear Mitski discuss the first time she “consciously” wrote a song and her worst habit of getting very impatient while riding the subway.
