The female quartet miss A is back after a one-year hiatus with their second full-length album “Hush,” led by a single of the same name.
The lead track “Hush” and its accompanying music video dropped Nov. 6, showing a more mature, dark and sexy side of miss A. While November 2012 single “I Don’t Need a Man” preached female independence and empowerment, “Hush” takes on an unexplored concept — desire.
The song, produced by E-Tribe (creator of K-pop classics like Girls’ Generation’s “Gee” and Lee Hyori’s “U Go Girl”), begins at a slower pace, with a heavy emphasis on the vocals of the members, acoustic instrumentals and minimal percussion. The song steadily builds into an intense, beat-driven dance track, signified by the frenzied and passionate lyrics of the son that describe a loss of control that the girls feel at the thought of being with their lover.
Twenty-two year-old member Min had fans eagerly anticipating the release ever since she posted a mysterious photo of what appeared to be her in a studio on her Instagram account with the simple caption: “COMEBACK” on Oct. 14. Soon after, JYP Entertainment announced the girls would return Nov. 6 and started releasing teaser photos of each member. The images radiate an air of mystery and exude sex appeal, setting the tone for a totally different concept than miss A’s most recent single, “I Don’t Need a Man,” which peaked at No. 4 on the K-Pop Hot 100 in November 2012.
Fei, Jia, Min and Suzy are set to kick off the promotion cycle for “Hush” on Thursday, Nov. 7, on “M COUTNDOWN” where their fans, affectionately known as Say A, will see the transformation taken to the live stage.
