Sony BMG senior VP and GM of U.S. digital sales Adam Mirabella is leaving the record label, Billboard has learned, to take a post at mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.
On Oct. 13, Mirabella will begin his new position as director of global digital music retail. He will be based in Nokia’s White Plains, NY campus, and will report to Liz Schimel, Nokia’s head of global music.
Nokia on Thursday released the full details of its much-anticipated Comes With Music initiative, which includes the cost of a year’s music subscription into select devices. Nokia also operates an a la carte music download service as part of its Ovi entertainment services platform, and has emerged as a key player in the nascent mobile music distribution space.
At Sony BMG, Mirabella was responsible for managing the label’s relationships with all U.S. digital and mobile distribution partners.
