When Miley Cyrus takes the stage to host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live tonight (Oct. 3), you’ll be looking at a pro — not only as a singer, but an actress as well.
She first rose to prominence on the goofy Disney sitcom Hannah Montana, but since then, she’s made more than a few appearances on Saturday Night Live — in a particular honor, she was one of just a few music guests who participated in the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special in February.
The premiere of the show will likely be dominated by politics — Hillary Clinton is rumored to be appearing — and Cyrus may find herself making a political statement, as she is wont to do. In addition, on the music front, she’s got her new album Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz, as well as her new movie single from Freehold, “Hands of Love.”
Check out just a few of her best moments on the show from previous appearances. What do you hope to see Cyrus do Saturday night?
5. Disney Channel Acting School
Cyrus poked fun at her Hannah Montana years in this sketch that showed off the, errr…, unique way that many of the Disney kids acted on camera.
4. That Voice
Cyrus let her vocals take center stage in a moving performance of Paul Simon‘s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” from last February.
3. VMA Apocalypse
When Cyrus last hosted Saturday Night Live, it was right after her grab-your-pearls infamous 2013 VMA performance with Robin Thicke — so naturally she came face to face with Vanessa Bayer’s doppelganger and was forced to explain herself to America.
2. The Biebs Impression
Will Miley break out her impression of pal Justin Bieber again? Likely — especially with Bieber back in the news with new music. Cue that point, wink, repeat.
1. Monologue Song
Of course, her best sketches have a musical bent. This SNL monologue tune — following the controversy when photos emerged of Miley at a house party with a bong — showed that the singer is able to laugh at herself, as well as point out that we’re all way too obsessed with what she’s getting up to.
