Miley Cyrus’ “Adore You” is the most downtempo single released from her “Bangerz” album thus far… but that’s nothing a Cedric Gervais remix can’t fix! The French DJ/producer, best known for his remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” has turned Cyrus’ yearning ballad into a fist-pumping anthem — listen below:
The dance version of the track kicks in around the 30-second mark, when the amorphous rhythms of the original track are snapped down with a thumping beat, which quickly builds toward a dazzling drop before pulling back for the second verse. Gervais won a GRAMMY Award for his “Summertime Sadness” remix, and mentioned the “Adore You” re-working to Billboard on the red carpet last month.
“I had an interesting phone call the other day — Miley Cyrus called me and asked me to work with her on ‘Adore You,'” said Gervais. “It’s finished, she loves it.”
Gervais’ “Summertime Sadness” remix reached the Top 10 of the Hot 100 chart last year before the producer won Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical at the GRAMMYs. While Cyrus’ previous single, “Wrecking Ball,” became her first No. 1 single on the Hot 100 last year, “Adore You” has peaked at No. 22, and clocked in at No. 25 on last week’s chart.
