Clear Channel Entertainment Television will produce a TV special and DVD based on the concert event “British Invasion: A Tribute to Mike Smith.” The event benefits the lead singer and keyboard player for the Dave Clark Five, who suffered spinal cord injuries in 2003.
The TV special and DVD will be culled from two tribute concerts, to be shot in high definition, taking place Aug. 2 at the B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in New York. The concerts will feature performances from the Zombies, Peter and Gordon, and Will Lee’s N.Y. Beatles Tribute Band the Fab Faux, and will be hosted by Paul Shaffer.
All proceeds from the show, the TV special and the DVD will go to a fund for Smith.
An air date for the special and a release date for the DVD have not yet been set.
