As promised, Mike Posner has officially completed his nearly 3,000-mile walk across America.
On Friday (Oct. 18), the “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” singer took to social media to celebrate the finish of his 2,851-mile journey, which began in April in Asbury Park, N.J., and ended in Venice Beach, Calif.
“My name is Mike Posner and I walked across America. Keep Going,” Posner captioned an overjoyed Instagram clip of himself celebrating by the Pacific Ocean.
Posner shared some celebratory messages in his Instagram story from fellow artists like Ty Dolla Sign and Mike Shinoda. Arista Records president/CEO David Massey also expressed his admiration of Posner’s accomplishment.
“This man has just WALKED across America. He is @mikeposner and there is only one. He always does exactly what he says he is going to do and there is no stopping him,” Massey wrote on Instagram. “CONGRATULATIONS MIKE ON BEING THE AMAZING PERSON YOU ARE.”
Earlier this year, Posner told Billboard that the cross-country walk was something he’s “wanted to do for years.” The bucket list dream became a priority following the death of his father in 2017 and the passing of his friend Avicii the following year.
“I feel everyone has a list of things they’d like to do in life and then a list of things they have to do,” Posner said. “After (the deaths) I realized I couldn’t wait to do these things I had to do on that list. I’d been putting (the walk) off for years and years and years. The time is now.”
