The Battles round can get brutal on NBC’s The Voice, though Monday night felt more like a family affair when Team Kelly’s The Bundys went toe-to-toe with teen Mikaela Astel.
Both contestants tackled Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird,” and every singer was in full flight in what was an historic Battle.
The Bundys, the first-ever trio on The Voice, showcased their creamy country harmonies and the 14-year-old Astel impressed with her angelic touches. Until now, four artists had never competed in a single Battle round.
“Your voice is both strong and really vulnerable at the same time. It’s such an interesting voice,” coach John Legend noted. Also, he pointed out her nerves. But that’s to be expected.
All the experts loved the Bundys’ special sound. Ultimately, Kelly Clarkson was faced with the toughest of choices. Watch what happened below.
