Global sounds define the 11 finalists to Midem’s Artist Accelerator (MAA) competition, with rising talent from South Africa, France, Nigeria, Cuba, Australia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom selected to perform at Midem Beach in Cannes and benefit from a special program of coaching, mentoring and networking opportunities.
In addition, Midem attendees will be able to vote for their favorite artist, with the winner getting to perform live at the Midem 2018 Opening Night party. Midem takes place June 5-8.
“We are particularly excited about this year’s line-up for the Midem Artists Accelerator, with its strong accent on talent from the African continent,” said Midem director Alexandre Deniot.
South African DJ and producer Black Coffee, who will be keynoting at Cannes, is this year’s MAA Artist Ambassador.
This is the MAA’s fourth year in Midem, with several alumni from the 2017 edition — including Be Charlotte and Iris Gold — landing record deals and other opportunities.
This year, finalists will get mentoring services from companies like Soundcharts, Spotify and I AM POP in addition to free legal consultation.
