Microsoft is expanding the focus of its Media and Entertainment Group and bringing in two music industry veterans.
Christina Calio, a 12-year Geffen Records veteran who has been with Microsoft since 1999, was named director of the division, and will oversee business development and industry relations for the Entertainment and Devices Division.
Also named a director to the group is Marcel Garaud, who joined Microsoft in 2007 after eight years at Sony BMG. He will lead music acquisition and business development for both Zune and Xbox.
Calio will report to the division’s GM Kathy Styponias, and Garaud to Ross Honey, the group’s GM for global content acquisition. Both are based in Microsoft’s Redmond, Wash. headquarters.
