It’s mid-winter, and that means a lot of the country’s school kids are waiting around for that exciting announcement that they have a snow day off from school.
Schools in Michigan have been getting creative with their day-off announcements, by changing the lyrics to popular tunes. One in particular caught the attention of the Internet, and that’s Swartz Creek Community Schools Superintendent Ben Mainka and high school principal Jim Kitchen’s rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
“It’s cold and dreary, stay home, stay warm/It’s cold and it’s a snowy winter morning/It goes like this when the snow hits/The buses can’t get out of it/It’s cold and it’s a snowy winter morning, It’s a snow day,” the two harmonize and actually sound really, really good.
