Dr. Conrad Murray was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson on Monday, the climax of a complicated six-week trial that left Jackson’s family and friends with strong emotions.
“Justice was good today,” Janet Jackson wrote on Twitter while in Australia.

“He was in that courtroom and that’s why justice was served,” La Toya Jackson, the late King of Pop’s sister, told CNN Headline News. As she left the courtroom, she told the Associated Press, “Michael was looking over us. Absolutely justice was served.”
However, one guilty verdict wasn’t enough for La Toya, who tweeted, “Michael, I love you, and I will continue to fight until ALL are brought to justice.”
Rev. Al Sharpton, a Jackson family friend, had similar feelings.
“Certainly I feel that more punishment could and should have been served but I am pleased that this jury didn’t blame Michael for his own death. … I feel that Dr. Murray and others who benefited from Michael but didn’t protect him got off relatively lightly,” he told reporters. “Michael lost his life and we lost one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived. I lost a friend and will never forget him.”
“I’m just happy it’s over with,” sister Rebbe Jackson added to CNN. “Nothing will bring him back, but I’m just happy [Murray] was found guilty.”
Michael’s mother, Katherine, also found relief in the verdict.
“I feel better now,” she told the AP upon leaving the courtroom.
She and husband Joe later made a statement to TMZ, calling the moment “ecstatic.”
“We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time, and we couldn’t hold back tears of joy in the courtroom,” the pair stated.
The Jackson family patriarch also returned to the theme of the day as he left the courthouse.
“Justice was done,” he said.
