Los Angeles-based designer Michael Costello had a reassuring message for his “old friend” Bebe Rexha on Tuesday (Jan. 22).
Now, although Costello said he was sad that Rexha didn’t call him first, he understood the first-time Grammy nominee’s frustration. “I don’t blame her for being upset, I’ve been friends with Bebe for a very long time,” Costello told TMZ.
He even agreed with Rexha when she said that if a designer thinks a size 8 is too big to dress, that she won’t wear their dresses. “And you know, I just have to say, I’m gonna get bashed for this, but I’m with her — fuck those other designers who only wanna dress the size 2 girls,” Costello said.
Costello — who has dressed Rexha along with other artists like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys on prior occasions — said that designers need to “take a chance” on Rexha not only for her beautiful figure, but most importantly, for her talent. “She’s a beautiful woman, she’s curvy, she’s super talented, very down to earth and I like her,” he said about the singer-songwriter.
When asked what style he’d go for if he got to dress Rexha, Costello responded with “less is more.” “Something sexy that show off those curves, that show off the girls, that show of the booty, that show off the waist,” he smiled.
“Bebe, call me, you have my number, I’m not too hard to find,” Costello added.
