M.I.A. has dropped a video for new song “Rewear It,” which she says was shot across the world in Senegal, Iceland, the United States and Europe.
The video premiered on Vogue’s website and arrives in partnership with clothing brand H&M to promote World Recycle Week, a sustainability initiative with the goal of collecting 1,000 tons of used clothes to recycle.

M.I.A. spoke with Vogue about the video shoot, saying: “It was pretty global. I was supposed to shoot my part in America, but I didn’t get the visa, so mine was shot back in Europe. I think it was important to include everybody, because you’re never going to stop the high-street brands from going into all of these markets, but you have to figure out how they communicate to the new generation and are part of that conversation, if you can educate kids to be more conscious.”
“I brought Whiteboy and Riley, the two dancers who I used to have on tour, so they were like my crew, and the others were put forward by H&M,” she says of the dancers featured in the clip. “They chose people who they felt were leaders in social media circles or whatever fields they’re in. I also put forward an artist from South Africa called Dope Saint Jude, who’s in it.”
