Much ado has been made lately of the new Menudos, whose members were culled from an MTV reality show.
But a new class of ex-Menudos has emerged, XM2. The group comprises former group members Sergio Blass, Ruben Gomez, Rawy Torres and Jonathan Montenegro. All were members of Menudo in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
XM2 is currently starring in “Batalla de las Amércias,” a music-based reality TV show that is looking for the fifth XM2 member. The show, slated to air in mid 2008, is produced by TFM group, an entertainment company specializing in TV production, touring and merchandising and focused on the Latin market.
“Batalla” is expected to broadcast throughout Latin America in 2008 and in the United States on the Telemundo network. TFM will also release an XM2 album next year.
In the meantime, the new Menudo will release a debut EP Dec. 18 and a full album on Epic Records in spring 2008.
