With a breezy, hip-pop style, the single pairs the two as they sing about getting in the titular “Mood,” with the lyrics addressing the drive to succeed in work while still feeling a sense of freedom. The song was released earlier this month, on Dec. 19, while the music video for the Chinese-language collaboration dropped Wednesday.
The video depicts Meng waking up for work and feeling blue about her daily life as an office worker even as her subconscious wants her to stop being so serious about her job; Wang serves as a co-worker who shows her how to have a good time as the pair sing about feeling more free. The clip ends with some behind-the-scenes shots of the brightly hued music video.
“Mood” was produced by The Partysquad, Alvaro and room102 and written by Meng and Wang. It serves as Meng’s latest single, the fourth by the former miss A member since she left JYP Entertainment last May to pursue a career in her native China.
The music video for “Mood” was released the same day JYP Entertainment confirmed the disbandment of miss A, which was announced over a year after Meng left the label and two years since the girl group released their final album, Colors. Meng addressed the breakup on Instagram, where she described miss A as what “made me who I am today.” Wang is still signed to JYP and an active member of the boy band GOT7 but also simultaneously pursuing a solo career in the Chinese-language entertainment industry.
