White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has taken a licking in the press for his recent hiding place among bushes on the presidential grounds — apparently to avoid questions after James Comey’s dismissal.
Then he had to contend with Melissa McCarthy reprising her “Spicey” impression on the streets: The actress was spotted, in full Spicer costume, riding the briefing room podium around Midtown Manhattan on Friday morning (May 12), screaming at passers-by.
It was all for her appearance on the May 13 episode of Saturday Night Live. McCarthy reprised her role spoofing the White House press briefings, where she “put this whole Russian thing to bed once and for all.”
“Trump is innocent,” she insisted. “How do we know? Because he told us so. Period. Then he hired lawyers to agree with him.”
When members of the press questioned whether Spicer’s job is safe, McCarthy-as-Spicer headed off to New York to find reassurance from Trump himself — hence the pre-recorded segment on city streets. The sketch ended with a surprise second cameo by Alec Baldwin and a shocking embrace.
