In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Friends, Meghan Trainor unveiled a cover of the Rembrandts’ iconic theme song, “I’ll Be There For You.”
The 2019 spin was played in conjunction with the lights on the Empire State Building on Sunday night (Sept. 22), as the skyscraper lit up to the beat of the beloved song (including the famous clap after the first line).

“I’m so excited! @FriendsTV is one of my fav shows of all time,” the songstress wrote on Twitter upon announcing the collaboration. According to The Rolling Stone, Trainor channeled the spirit of the song by calling on her family to sing in the background. “I actually cut the vocals in my backyard in my studio, with my little brother, my older brother, my husband, and my best friend,” she said. “And we were just all laughing and in disbelief. Like, ‘How is this really happening?’ It was a big party, the best night.”
