Meek Mill wasn’t focused this week on the sales of his just-released debut album, “Dreams and Nightmares,” rather, the Philadelphia rapper was worried about his family’s safety in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

“This storm has been crazy,” Meek says, via a Warner Bros. press release sent out Friday (Nov. 2). “This is my first release, and I’m supposed to be so happy for it. But the same day my album came out, I was more worried about how my family was holding out and a tree falling on my house.”
Hurricane Sandy has left many in the New Jersey/New York regions without power, water, and in some cases shelter. Small to large companies in the area — including record retailers — were advised, if not forced, to close their doors and evacuate.
“My focus wasn’t on stores being closed,” Meek continues to say. “I had a packed house, filled with my family, making sure they were good during this storm.”
Despite the devastation, “Dreams and Nightmares” is on track to sell around 170,000 to 190,000, according to industry forecasters.
